Women Weight and God was started by Lisa and Dawn in 2007, as a small group at Pacific Christian Center, Santa Maria, California. We wanted a place where women in our church body, and others that are like-minded Christians, could share their experience as it relates to our self-image: especially when it comes to the issues of weight. So much of the world would tell us that we are ONLY who we see in the mirror – too fat or too thin; too many wrinkles, not the right color hair or hair-style, ad-nauseum; our imperfections are many!
But, Jesus Christ, our blessed Lord and Savior does NOT say that we are who we see in the mirror, or what anyone else says about us. He says that He made us in His image and that He loves us EXACTLY as we are RIGHT NOW!
Women, Weight and God (or aka, WWG) is a group of women who come together each week to share our triumphs and struggles, to pray for one another and to be prayed for, to read and to gain wisdom about who we are in Christ: as the Christ image, we believe, is the image that our heart’s desire is to emulate. Through scripture, we know that He will make us into His own image, in exactly His timing, but that we are not to be ”lone rangers” out there. That this life’s ups and downs are meant to be shared and we are to be strengthened, by Him and through fellowship of other believers.
